College concert
This one is pretty old...taken in November 2006 during my college fest...The all-popular college band Parikrama performs with special effects on stage.

Faith moves the masses
This was taken at the famous 'Har ki Paudi' - the place where the faithful offer their prayers to the river Goddess, Ganga. Gathering at the water's edge, they float down beautiful offerings to the Goddess of the River - never mind that she's horribly polluted because of this...
Natural ruins
I couldn't resist taking a picture of this unusual natural 'castle' formation on the roadside...right on the way to Haridwar. Sanctuary for a snake, perhaps? Or an abandoned former home to generations of ants? I'll never know.

At a low ebb...
I visited Rishikesh (another holy town close to Haridwar) after a seven-year gap...and noticed how the river is no longer the clear blue, gushing, lively river I saw back then, but at a low level, and muddy and demure-looking. Why do places change so much??? Sigh.
Incongruity....
Yeah well...an ad for a Prepaid cell phone service in the middle of nowhere??? Thought I'd capture it...

Flame of the forest - on the road...
Just a little stop by on the road to the holy city of Haridwar. I love the way the mountains are faintly visible in the distance, and the tree looks beautiful on an otherwise empty road.

Dusk descends...
Taken during twilight...only a few minutes after, the hills were covered in a sheet of darkness, with the town lights twinkling far below.
Promise of rain...
A dark cloud hovers over the hills - a prelude for the thunderstorm that would lash the hills only half an hour later.
Mist in the mountains
This was taken on a recent trip to Mussoorie; a hill station in the Indian state of Uttarakhand - beautiful weather...People may say it's become commercialised, but the hills never cease to enthrall me.
Since I decided....
To try my hand at....well...not amateur photography, but photography in general...no hi-fi camera or anything, just a Sony Cybershot with a decent zoom lens, here's this blog. My posts will be more or less erratic, but I'll try to post some interesting pictures. Comments, criticisms, bouquets, brickbats...everything's welcome. :D
